About Us

melodically challenged Today

melodically challenged is a 501.3.c non-profit organization dedicated to creating weekly programming for college radio, built around a blend of poetry and music. We select our poetry from highly-respected poetry collections, with permission to use and air picks from their audio archives. We syndicate our weekly, one-hour shows to national affiliates.

We provide several internships throughout the year for students where we introduce them to the radio environment. We teach students to write to an NPR clock, and help them to build portfolios of high-quality, written and voiced material for future educational and employment opportunities.

melodically challenged also offers an annual scholarship for students that is awarded in the Spring.

Our History

Robert V Morea

Robert Vincent Morea III founded melodically challenged in May of 2006, after he had been appointed program director of WRAS, the largest all student run radio station in the country. He had been born with Cystic Fibrosis and had received a double lung transplant three and a half years earlier. He contracted an infection shortly after he began the show and passed away June 20, 2006. Robert was awarded his B.A. in English posthumously from Georgia State University. This show is dedicated to Robert Morea, and we hope to be able to award scholarships for poets and students who participate in college radio in his name in the future.

Dr. K.B. Kincer took over the program after Robert's death, and has continuously maintained and produced the show until the present day.
